I had the route planned after getting lost last year, it was past the train station and left a bit further up the road, and that’s where my plan failed, I couldn’t even find the train station this year, I suddenly seen two bikes coming the opposite direction, my prayers were answered, until they told me they were lost too! So after I told them I knew the way from the station, I found out that they knew the way to said station, so with a joint effort we got there.
My book of planning was full and with the first line crossed out, it wasn’t looking good, first up was my annual trip round the campsite, to get early morning bike shots before everyone was off for a ride out, but that was a washout as it took me a couple of hours to do a hundred yards, not that I mind for one moment, as I catch up on all the latest gossip and happenings (which seemed to be mostly about Gaynor, more about that later) first off I came across a couple of nice VW trikes which had a low stance, parked next to those was ‘Gaspode’ in all its err finery (probably not the best word to use, but it will suffice), the first adapted trike I came across was a tasty Vmax with low profile, wide wheels it had a full bucket seat on the back with a race harness and a step-through section for the passenger, it was a great idea.
I was then kidnapped by Barkin’ Mad Mcc who held me ransom, but as no-one paid it they let me go.
Then it was up past Bikergrans Gt550 with golf club gearchanger and a very nice Fosters themed VW Trike, ohh and Gaynor recovering, not from her accident but more from the night before.
I headed north, well it seemed like north as it was uphill, where I bumped into Womble lancs, Spike, Freak, Kerry and Byrnie (NABD Treasurer) and Kel who unbeknown to anyone sneaked away on the Thursday to get married, congratulations both.
So now you see, my second plan was had collapsed so I chucked my plan away and went on a rampage of randomness which involved snapping anything that moved and even more that didn’t, but in my rampage I bumped into Dumfries Dik who proceeded to tell me of his previous evenings entertainment with a lady who shall remain nameless (Hint – read earlier bits of review) and his hour long dance that involved the swapping of clothing, and much good natured frolicking and even the odd moan of disapproval (From Mark IOW mostly).
Saturdays entertainment was the legendary Russ page doing the disco and was as usual the true star of the show, the afternoon seen Tom Rockliffe performing a set which was then followed by yet another fantastic set by STEViE .
The trophies and raffle were next, with very few people knowing who had won what, but nobody cared as it was such a good laugh.
Bikers Gearbox performed a fashion show, and followed by Pretty Dead Thing, whose unique sounds were an acquired taste.
The numbers seemed to be up on previous years and yet another successful event comes to an end. A personal thanks to all the Nabd organisers for not only the hard work at the rally but for the good work they do keeping bikers on the road, and having had adaptations done myself, I can vouch for the necessity of having a charity such as this.
