Review

The Bulldog Bash’s 20th Year, I was looking forward to this much more. Why? I don’t know, I get there on the Wednesday which means we ‘The Fallen’ get to have an evening together before the chaos starts on Thursday, its very much an annual holiday for us all, albeit a working one.
So Thursday starts and the organised chaos begins, now if you have never seen the organisation behind an event like this, you will be amazed, so many people working flat out, it is a mammoth task, with many people looking worn out before the first person even steps through the gate. It is a job with little recognition, but every person deserves our thanks.
The mad Thursday rush seemed a little slower this year (mainly due to the M40 being closed for a considerable time), but come they did, constantly and although I don’t have the official figures I am pretty sure that there were considerably more there this year.
As most of you know my interest in the bands is nil, so I will go on and say that the bands were great and everybody enjoyed them except those that didn’t. The dance tent however was superb as usual, with a fantastic atmosphere. So that’s the music side of things covered, onto more important things, people and the bikes, let me start with people, there were just so many of them, one person in particular is an inspiration, his name is John Birdsall (http://www.johnbirdsall.com/) he comes year after year on his nippi 180cc scooter, which allows him to ride from his wheelchair, he parties harder than most people I know, and anyone who can wangle free entry to the lapdance tent year after year is a God in my book. The list of people I met up with is endless, the one thing I noticed this year above all was there were a lot more festival goers there who were there more for the music than the bikes, not necessarily a bad thing but I hope that it does not detract from the ‘biker’ side of this event, especially as the show is one of the biggest and best in the country. Which gets better and better every year, with the quality of machines on show being the best yet? My personal favourite being Warhorse by Destiny Cycles, if I had to have a bike built to my specification, that would be it, I am still in awe each time I see it, following on from this was the no nonsense choppers Violence bike, it is one of those machines that takes a lot of detail in it, and has a moody feel about it. Dexie had his snake bike there which has so much work done to it that it takes a long time and plenty of viewings to notice it all, and notice it you do.
There was just so many bikes of fantastic quality that it is hard to choose, and its all pretty much down to personal taste and the same with the Trikes, well mine was there (just about ready in time) Zac was there with his trike, he made it all the way down from Scotland, with a few mishaps with the trike and himself whilst there, but he was in good spirits nonetheless and a good looking trike it is, there was a huge v12 trike, it was massive, not sure I could cope with a trike that big.
Well I will leave you to get Back street heroes for a full report, but needless to say it was a fantastic show of epic proportions, roll on next year
