Amid the hustle and bustle of Coalville, at the Victoria Bikers pub, along with the Coffin Scratchers Mcc, was a very decent bike and trike show, with a decent area to fill with bikes I did wonder if, the show would look lost, but in the end they had little space to spare, with the bike park jammed to the hilt, especially after 45 plus bikes from the Boring Old Fartz Mcc turned in procession, now I don’t know about you but seeing that many bikes and trikes turning up in one go, gives you a great sense of pride in our lifestyle, well I was impressed anyway.
The Coffin Scratchers also had a raffle and collections in aid of Heartlink at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester (to help children with heart problems)
Onto the show, a few stalls selling mudguards, jewellery, clothing and leather were there, and I cam across a new and interesting idea, a one stop, one phone call way of booking a variety of rally stalls, its called ‘The Rally Gang’ its where an ever growing group of stall holders get together and organise block bookings of a variety of stalls from new age stalls to a mobile bar 07723055632 or (website coming soon www.therallygang.co.uk).
Amongst the sea of bikes were some splendiferous (and yes that’s a real word I googled it) examples, personal favourites were a 77 Yamaha Triple called Teacher’s Pet (previously featured in BSH) and although it didn’t win, it did deserve to. A 95 Buell Lightning with Elderbrook head was very trick, and a Red Suzuki Chop, on the trike front Oliver the Tronster was there along with a long low ford diesel trike, Satan’s Cadillac and Grim Reaper were also there (they may be stalking me, because they seem to be everywhere I go – maybe it’s a sign of impending doom).
This is only there 2nd annual show and a success is putting it mildly, It was well organised and in a great location, and even the threat of bad weather couldn’t keep people away.
