ODDBALLS RALLY

SEPTEMBER 22ND-24TH 2006.

This was our first visit to this rally, but we think ourselves very lucky that we managed to get some of the 500 tickets that sell out within about 5 days of going on sale, but I am sure it will not be our last. The rally site was a very large field at Lacon Caravan Park, in Wem, Shropshire, a very large marquee and proper loos with showers and a bar both in the marquee and also in part of the park.
When we arrived on the Friday afternoon the weather was beautiful, but unfortunately it clouded over and began to rain, but it was very short lived and so after about a hour it stopped and turned into a very nice afternoon and evening, which was a bit of a bonus really as some of us didn’t arrive till after dark and so we ended up putting tents up with a distinct lack of light.
It was great to see a lot of friends here too, The Get off your Butts, L.A.R.C’s, The Bugsplatz, The Phantoms from Belgium, The Kysers, Stallions of Steel, Double Drat & The Black Widows  to mention but a few of the clubs that were there, so the beginning of the evening on Friday we spent catching up with the gossip, before going into the marquee to listen to  the band for the evening which was DIZZY LIZZY, and then finished the night of about 3am when Tonto stopped playing.
Saturday morning the sun was out and after a shower and breakfast, we made our way into Wem for a spot of shopping and dinner, then back to the rally site to watch the silly games, which were great and participation was very high and watched with great interest and enthusiasm, everyone getting very messy as usual and not without its fair share of Rally virgins.
Later on in the day Tonto struck up the disco for the night and about 8ish they did the raffle and prize givings, before we were all entertained by V8 and then the night ended with the disco until the early hours of Sunday morning.
As we began to pack up to come home on Sunday we were subjected to a thunderstorm which lasted about a hour so that delayed departure for a while but most of us were in the control tent finishing off the soup that is the specialty
of Terry the Bells and Rene and at 10p along with the tea & coffee we hardly noticed the storm with so much conversation going on.
We (Unwanted Mcc) would just like to say a big thank you to all at The Oddballs for a terrific weekend we had a great time and look forward to the next one.
Ride safe see you all soon.
