REVIEW The Ali Bongo's custom show, in all honesty is one of the most enjoyable shows I have been to in a while, why? well to be honest I am not entirely sure, it wasn't a big show (but that is no bad thing, and a respectable no of bikes trikes and people were there). It was well organised and the venue was ideal. the weather gods must have been bribed (or threatened) by the Ali Bongo's because it was glorious. There were a few special bikes there including a very tasty Brough Superior, this bike has to be seen to be appreciated, it gets started on rollers by putting the back wheel on the rollers and put a powerful modern bike along side it, the modern bike spins the rollers and kicks the Brough Superior into life, and when i say life, WOW i mean life, now i have heard some load bikes before, but this is amazing it shift air like no other i have heard, it makes your heart go thump, you ears bleed, and you are just in awe of it, words cannot adequately describe it. if there is one thing in your life you must experience, then this bike is it. Haydn from the 'Trike Shop' stopped by with his amazing Honda Rune trike, this is a fantastic beast, and suits being triked. STEViE's 73 T140V Bonneville chop' was there looking fine as usual (although something seemed to be missing underneath the bike :-) ) Next up was 6 Cyl CBX with some fantastic paint on it, and personally i love those engines. Trikes were aplenty, Trikergal VW trike and coffin trailer were there, along with the rest. STEViE was there and did an amazing set (he gets better everytime I see him) including his latest song 'Roadkill Cafe' ' there is a sampler video here. I was approached to judge the tattoo show, so I gracefully accepted, and immediately started panicking that there might be some 8 foot ape showing off his 'Borstal Dot' and I would have to choose him as the winner (but thankfully Jay wasn't there :-) ), it turns out that there was a pleasant surprise involved in the judging of this show, i got to get a private viewing with a lovely young lady, with a fantastic dragon tattoo, obviously i had to take a picture for purely professional reasons you understand. needless to say she won, purely on the merit of her tattoo. The atmosphere was so laid back that most people were horizontal, the bands played away people chatted, chilled, had a laugh, and I think that the combination off all of the above made it a good show, and the fact it 'officially' started at 3.30pm help with the atmosphere, because at some all day shows people come and are hanging around, between things going on, but this had a nice steady stream of interesting, things happening to keep people from getting bored or wandering off, so I can heartily recommend this show next year, make sure its down as a must do date in your diary. Ohh and not to many more people please, i wanna keep this one a secret that i can enjoy myself :-) A big thanks to the Ali Bongo's MCC for making this happen - dont change a thing (except for more private viewings please) Visit the Ali Bongo's Website here Yoda
