Review

Brightona was one of those events that sneaked past my radar on my comprehensive events listing (See Here), I only heard about it the week prior to its taking place, and having previously done the Brighton Burn Up on the 11th Sept, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I decided to give this one a go, with forecasts of bad weather and rain, I was all kitted out ready for the worst, but lo and behold, the weathermen were wrong (Again) but in our favour this time. It was baking with sunshine so bright Photographing became quite difficult at times.
I was there early (as usual) and it seemed a quiet start, but it didn't last long, Bike after Bike after Trike rolled up and filled up Madeira drive, I was in my prime, sunshine and bikes, I also had my trainee photographer in tow, my daughter Emma (6) who did a smashing job, in fact she took some cracking pictures.
bikes and trikes were lined both side of the drive there were standard machines and chopped scooters, and everything else in between, a few favourites were a Harley with a Pin-ups theme painted on it A Suzuki with a 'Looney Tunes' Theme and an awesome sounding SRAD, there was just so much there that it kept me on my toes (or wheels :-) ) for quite some while, as you can see from the sheer number of photo's.
There was a custom show, but I was too busy and missed who won what, except that is for 'Best Harley' which was won by 'Pin Up' Plenty of trade stalls inc Buckle Mania who does more events than I do, and works damn hard as well, there was also A dyno tester, and plenty of clothing stalls, to keep everybody busy, the Brighton Jive Troupe were there showing off their Jive and dance skills to classics such as Eddie Cochran and Chuck Berry tunes (obviously not the actual singers, especially as Eddie Cochran dies in 1960). The children's play area was full with little ones, and even the odd big one (Jonny I seen you), also the fine weather meant the kids could get near the water without fear of frostbite, but alas the stony beach was totally impassable for myself, although we have now adopted 4 big pet stones.
My medication was obviously working real well that day as I kept seeing a giant rabbit walking around, and it was only when I got home and downloaded the pictures, that the figment of my imagination were in fact real, yes a 12 foot (ish) high rabbit was there and when not in rabbit guise Mr Giant was whizzing up and down the drive on a tiny Evil Kinevil bike wearing an Evil Kinevil outfit and cape, I really don't know about him being a children's entertainer, I could have watched him all day.
The event was opened by Mayor of Brighton & Hove City and raised funds for the Brighton Heart Support Trust, a local charity that supports the Cardiac unit in Brighton. The organisers are hoping it will become an annual event, and after today's success I see no reason why this should not happen, and wish them all the best with it, especially as it was so well organised, that well in fact that you hardly noticed the organisers unless you were actually looking for them.

It was an excellent day out and I really hope there are many more of these to come
