Firstly many thanks to all of you that came on the toy run this year, it was very nice to see some familiar faces, but also very nice to see new ones as well, especially some who have not done any at all, we hope that this will spur you on to do more.
This year our destination was the stretton brook school, in stretton, burton on trent, we all gathered in the beech car park and after a cup or two of coffee, which was laid on by jim & jane at the pub free of charge, we left promptly at 12 noon, with about a 100 bikes and trikes laden with gifts and donations, we set off through the town greeted by the saturday shoppers who waved and cheered us on our way, thanks goes to you for your patience.
One of the school pupils amy was taken on the run by adele, from newhall trikers, and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
When we arrived at the school we were greeted by the headmaster and some of the staff who also provided us with refreshments and mince pies which was very welcome, as it was a very nice day but a little chilly. The photographer from the local paper arrived to take a few pictures, after which we had a couple of speeches we headed back to the beech where we held an auction which raised £132.50 in the afternoon which was swelled to £283 later, many thanks to andy our auctionner and to the donations of meals from wing wah`s and mcdonald’s and the gifts from nestles, elliots, loco sounds, greenlight, arnolds, burton scooter centre, thanks also to shobnall sports and social club for donating their swear box that raised £40.00 nice one ted. And other local businesses.
As we had got the disco up and running we carried on in party mode and after a few beers got into the karaoke and partied in to the night. Many thanks to you all once again and hope to see you all next year. We shall be running a raffle through the next 12 months with the chance to win a brand new 250cc motorbike which will be drawn at next years toy run in december so keep an eye on the website for further details.
