| Unwanted MCC,1st Cock Out Rally. July 15th - 17th 2005. The weekend started on thursday for us this week when we went to put up the Marqees for the rally, which was held on Shobnall Sports and Social club fields, to be presise there was 9 acres so lots of room to spread out. We had gone here earlier in the year to book the club for our Christmas party and while we were there decided to put on a rally, our first and judging by the response it will not be our last. By Friday morning 2 of the traders had arrived and 1 camper which turned out to be our furthest travelled male,Louie from Nthn Ireland. and during the morning we had a steady flow of people and the site was filling up nicely. The weather was very good to us and with temperatures in to the late 20`s early 30`s we couldn`t have wished for anything better. We had decided to have a BBQ on the friday evening and that turned out a huge success, then about 8o`clock the band `NIGHTMARE` had arrived and did 2 sets which finshed about 12.30 and Louie took over on the Disco till the end of the night, I think I speak for everyone when I say that they were absolutly brill and hope they get lots of other bookings as I know they were asked. Saturday morning arrived all to soon and the sun was out again, the field filled with more bikes and tents and as they all booked in the club put on another BBQ and sold cans outside,Moose had organised a ride out and took about 15 riders out for a couple of hours and everyone enjoyed it very much. The silly games started at about 4.30pm and a few brave folk drank and eat some very weird concoctions but had lots of fun and I don`t think they were to ill.During the silly games Tango went around the field and found lots of teams to do the quiz that Rupert had done, there was a tie in the end between FELP and Excalibur mcc so the prize money was split between them and they both had £15.00 each of which a fiver each was given back for the Air Ambulance,Thanks people. The band for Saturday night was "UNCOMMON" and their lead singer had been on Stars in their Eyes as Noddy Holder and we could see why, he was brill, they played their way through loads of covers from AC/DC to ZZ Top, at the end of the night I think they had had about 6 encores.During the break we did the Trophies and the Furthest Travelled Male was Louie from Derry, Northern Ireland,Furthest Travelled Female was Julie from Blackpool. Club Turnout was won by FELP. The winner of the best bike was Tango from PIL with his Suzuki, and the best Trike was a VW trike rider by J. Nixon from Chesterfield.Well done to you all. The evening was rounded off by the band doing their second set and finished with Louie and Jessop on the disco.I think all of you tried to drink the club dry but Ted and his team were always one step ahead. Sunday morning saw lots of bleary eyes as the sun come up again early at about 7 and eveyone was walking about looking like a load of lobsters, but as we began to take down the marquee and pack things away there was a certain amount of joy as we all reflected on the weekend and decided that it had been absolutley great and we are now all looking forward to next year. A BIG THANKS to you all for making it all happen and hopefully we will alll do it again next year,so until then we will see some of you through the rest of the year at rallies and parties and remember there are no strangers out there only friends you have not yet met. From all at UNWANTED MCC. Pictures by Tango and words by Ruth. | |||
