if i was going fit led rear tail light and small indicators to my vn 1500
is it straight forward i have heard that you have to do something to the electrics can anyone enlighten me on this :unsure: bun

LED tail light plugs straight in mate.As for the indicators you need an LED compatible flasher unit like this....

The only other thing to consider is that LEDs are killed by over voltage and reverse voltage. Engine cranking can generate huge reverse voltages that can kill LEDs. Thats why you often see LED light clusters with some LEDs out. LEDs operate on 1.5-2 volts. Cheap systems just string 6 LEDs together in series to get the right voltage with no protection at all.

Some LED lights do have diode protection but many do not and you will not be able to tell from the outside

I would always fit a diode in the live feed to the LED lights. A 1 amp one, 1N4005S will do (you can get them from http://www.maplin.co...?ModuleNo=19079 )

This will protect the LEDs from transient voltages.
