This Harley Davidson FXSTB Softail Night Train AKA: The Gobstopper is owned by the flamboyant Grayson Perry
with an either love it or hate it psychedelic paint job by Image Design Custom based in Surrey
The English contemporary artist is usually known for his ceramic vases, tapestries, cross-dressing and pink motorcycle which has been seen on many forums, social media platforms and websites.
Posts on those sites are usually negative, or of the piss taking variety, but i guess the only person who has to like the bike is him.
but the Psychedelic bike is much more to my liking….
Eccentric or individual…
He toured around Europe on a pink and blue motorbike carrying his teddy bear (Alan Measles) in a glass pope-mobilesque glass house on the back.
The motorcycle in question is a Harley Davidson Knucklehead with ‘Patience’ and ‘Humility’ painted along the elongated fuel tank with oversized fishtail exhaust and built by Battistini’s UK (although they don’t advertise this much),
the message Grayson Perry tries to portray with this bike is almost seems to be a parody of the Bikerlifestyle.
The irony is that we as bikers know that loyalty respect and brotherhood are the basis of our lifestyle, so his ironic portrayal is far more ironic than he realises.
Love it or Hate it…
This psychedelic bike is a 2007 Harley Davidson FXSTB Softail Night Train with a 103 cu in (1,690 cc) twin cam engine and hand built exhaust system.
The paintwork was applied line by line and took 150 hours at a cost of £8,500 to complete and was painted by Image Design Custom.
Situated on the Carole Nash stand at the 2018 Motorcycle Live show at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham, it certainly stood out and was receiving plenty of attention.
